Dig The Dirt - Gammon Lake Resources Inc.
TR100 Cummins Rigid Frame rear dump trucks sold to Gammon Lake Resources Inc. in February 2005By Mike Quaranto Gammon Lake Resources (GLR) is a Canadian based mining company that is operating an open pit Gold and Silver mine close to the city of Ocampo located in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. GLR purchased the fleet of 17- TR100 Cummins with standard bodies and 1- TR100 equipped with a 20,000 gallon Klein water tank installed, from our dealer AMECO in Mexico. AMECO has had a full time service staff at the mine site to carry out a fleet service and maintenance contract since the original date trucks went into service. The actual delivery of this fleet of trucks at the mine site was carried out throughout 2005 and early 2006 with the assistance of TCA service engineers Nilton Bazler and Gustavo Pasquale. The trucks were shipped from the USA / Mexico border to the Ocampo mine site with bodies removed. Truck bodies were reinstalled by AMECO under the supervision of Nilton and Gustavo. AMECO also sold GLR four of the first ten new model TA40G7 manufactured in 2006. The TA40G7 are also working at this mine doing the pioneering work to open up new pit areas and for haul road expansion and construction. Initial mine production was derived from the Conico deposit, which is one of six planned pits in the open pit mine, heap-leach area of the project. The TR100s are used to haul over burden to a waste dump and to haul ore laden material from the open pit to a large cone crusher. The trucks fleet is just under 10,000 average hours each of operation at this point in time. Gammon Lake Resources estimates that production of the Ocampo mine during 2007 will total 285,000 oz. of gold and 12.6 million oz. of silver. |
